you know, you 

want to be with teka before you go to the zoo 

incense 

lit 

lavender in her tea 

a balance of fire and calm 

just what might be needed for the 

developing flower 

mi sobrinitas 

clouds of sweet soft kisses

she used to express herself 

in the shadows left by the tree-lined sideways

sad, 

a sad girl, 

well, in any case, she gets nervous 

to write 

that space in the heart comes 

from pain.

when heart is connected to the art

sometimes the process 

deflates the balloon 

i wanted to stop 

stop stop 

making art

as soon as you started making songs with 

her 

jealousy

pulling on the

the fires that call your soul 

and fire

maybe your flame grows when 

your heart is 

lit and 

wind and air and 

fire 

move you 

the passion in your fire 

the water in your step 

so let me sit here 

and listen let the pains swallow me 

whole

i will slap a smile on my face

and move about this space
